In 2009, hard times fell upon me, and I had to step back from the noise of the world. At my grandmother’s home, her wisdom and the lessons of family grounded me again. It was there that I saw my uncle battling stage 2 diabetes. One day, I watched him inject insulin—and I knew I had to step in.I encouraged him to walk with me around the local school. I changed his diet: out went the whole milk and greasy bacon—in came almond milk, turkey bacon, and fresh herbs. Slowly, we watched his diabetes reverse.That moment lit a fire in me. What started as family care became a deeper purpose. I never imagined it would grow into a business—but it did.
